How many of you shoot until it drops?

How many of you willshoot an animaluntil it drops? I'm just curious because I've seen a number of hunting shows and I've only seen one or two of "these socallhunters" make follow up shots. Personaly for meif an animal is still standing after the shot I shoot it again. I use either a Marlin 336, Savage 99 or Remington 760 so I have a very fast followup shot. And nothing that I've ever shot has gone more than 20 yards. So do you use an follow up shot even if you think you made a great hit?

Yes, I follow up, and quickly.
Especially with elk.

If they don't drop, they run... and then I wait. Don't like running targets.

I am pretty sure of my shots because I usually wait until all conditions are right. However if there is a chance that the animal can reach heavy cover then I may shoot again. Usually I wait a second or two and they go down on their own.

Dangerous Game is another matter all together. Shoot until its over FOR SURE!!!

Where I used to hunt we had over 2,400 acres in our hunting club. That was a generally a "one shot one kill" situation as you didn't have to worry about loosing a deer if it crossed to adjoining property or to another hunter. Even so, I did shoot one more than once because I didn't want him to make it to the steep side of the mountain where it would have been heck getting him out.

Where I'm hunting now, relatively small acrageprivate land and public hunting areas, there is a definite possibility of a wounded deer making it on to the adjoining property or running to another hunter. In this situation, I fully intend to keep shooting till they stop moving. I'm shooting a bolt rifle now (Rem 700 Mtn LSS 7mm-08)but am seriously considering picking up a Rem 7600 30-06 carbine just for this purpose.

I shoot till they drop. I hate hunters who shoot an animal, and sit backadmiring their shot till the animal is down. [:@][:'(][:@][:'(]Good luck.

I go by if it drops its hit or if it runs its hit usually they'll just stand there lookin stupid if ya miss so you better rack another round untill it drops or runs.
