Over/unders?

Can anyone point me in a couple directions in regard to finding an over and under.
I am looking for a deer capable load on top, with a shotgun load smaller than .12 gauge.

Any ideas/suggestions that I may look into?

An ideal setup that I would like would be something like a .243 over a 16 gauge.

Thanks in advance!

The only current production gun that come close is this. At least of the top of my mind.

But that would be a 30-30 over a 12ga. Which is not what you are looking for. I'll try to do some digging later on and see what I can find.

As with LR1000, the savage is the only one I'm aware is made with rifle on top and shotgun on bottom that's suited for taking deer. 30-30 over 12g. You can find plenty of over under shotgun onlys, that can takeboth slugs and birdshot. However, it mustbe either 12g or 20g if this is to be done, asthey're the only with highly availablerifled slugs and birdshot loads.JW, why smaller than 12g? It has great versatility. If it must be a rifle and shotgun barrel, and your plan is to take a bird while deer hunting, cocking the hammer and switching the pin to either barrel will be slow and perhaps cause confusion when a deer shows up. To keep ethics in it for the animal, both barrels should be loaded for deer until you've made your mind up to load up for birds only, or vice versa.

There are lots ofcombination gunsmade over the pond, but the least expensive will be the Russian made under the Bikal brand or the same model imported by Remington. They are acceptable "hunting quality" guns and not priced real high.

My first choise would be a used Valmet 412 and it came here (from Finland) in numerous rifle cals under a 12ga. bbl.. (includeing .243 Win.) They are still being made under the Tika brand (in Italy) and are now called 512's....

The Valmets are a world "higher quality" over the Savages, and i've seen them for reasonable prices considering there quality. They were mentto be"hunting guns" and they are VERY durable!

Nice thing about the Valmets is, they are switch bbl. guns and 26 different ones were made in double shotgun, combination rifle shotgun, and double rifle bbls... Every one could be bought seperate and put on your action...

I have several bbls. for my 412 and you can see some of them below...
