I have one of the walnut/blued ones with the detachable magazines and the only reason I would sell or trade it would be to get the laminated stainless version. Mine is a .260 and after adjusting the trigger down to about 3#, it will shoot as good as any rife I have ever owned.

I haven't been a real fan of Remington of late but I must confess that the Rem 700 Mtn rifle is to my eyes the nicest looking standard production rifle on the market. And if one of their rifles were to lure me back to them this would be the one.

Hi everyone,
I'm a first time poster, long time reader. Does anyone have any experience with or opinions on the Rem 700 Mountain rifle? I'm a longstanding fan of the Model 700 action, and I love the Mountain's light weight. What worries me is the skinny little barrel on the 700 Mtn.

This is going to be a hard-working hunting rifle. I'm not looking for benchrest accuracy, but ability to group around 1.5" would be preferred. Share your experiences, please. -Buster
i have a S/S mnt gun rem700 in 30-06
it shoots 1.5 to 2.0 inch groups at a hundred yards with 180grfed hi-shock's........i do not practice alot and i have tendenancy ta flinch some
so i think the rifle is probly capable of better

i have taken two elk with this rifle and it'sa a dream to carry afield and hunt with !!!!!!!!!!
