Can anyone give me info on this rifle?

I was given this rifle a few years ago, and have shot it only a few times. Its been in my gun cabinent ever since. Now I'm starting to get interested in firearms, and would like whatever info anyone has as to this particular style of rifle.
I'm unsure about anything of this gun, except I think it was made in 1924 (it says model 1924), it has slide adjustable rear sight out to 1,000 yards), its an 8mm, and I believe it has German writing on it - And it does have a bit of a kick to it with that bare metal buttplate Anyone have any info on this gun, and what it might be useful for?

It appears to be a WWII German mauser. There should be serial numbers,(in some cases, the last 3 or 4 digits) on all the parts. If they match, you have a valuable piece. If they don't, you still have a solid rifle. My uncles shot deer with the mausers brought back as war trophies. They are still shooting them.

Can't see the crest...but it doesn't look a VZ-24 which it would say on the left rail.
What does else does it say beyond 24...?

It could be a Model 24 or a 24/47 or a 24/52, all of which are esentially the same...

A little more info and it should be easy to figure out...

Looks to me like a Kar '98K Mauser, the standard-issue German WWII infantry rifle, caliber 7.92X57JS (8m Mauser)

It says model 1924 directly under the emblam. It doesnt have anything else other than the serial numbers.

it does appear to have all matching seriel numbers on all the parts. 253389 on all the bolt parts. and the sights actually go up to 2k yards. any ideas what a rifle like this is worth? I wont be selling it, but its still nice to know.

Get a picture of the rear of the bolt and bolt handle. My best guess is a k98, 8x57js(8mm mauser)

I agree with JC. I think it is some version CZ 24. Good actions, large numbers existing so value is moderate. Better crest picturewould help much.

None of my business but I would not give serial numbers over net.

Yes, in fact that crest does appear to be the model 24...

Value in like new condition is 300-400$

(I was running out the door when I posted the info earlier so here is the rest. Hopefully it will help make to make your confirmation.)

----------------------------------------------

This rifle was the first to be accorded a Yugo-specific model designation. As Yugoslavia did not have their own rifle production facilities until later on, the 1924 pattern Mauser rifle was manufactured under contract by FN (Fabrique National D'armes De Guerre, Herstal, Belgique) and BRNO.

All were straight bolt rifles with the 'old style' long-type wood-handled Mauser bayonet, and all were produced prior to WWII.
