25.06 Question!

I'm looking at buying my son a rifle and i'm looking hard at the 25.06 because i think he can handle this caliber well. The gun will be a deer rifle only and my question is this. Is a 25.06 a good deer rifle and if so what grain and type bullet do you guys recommend? Thanks!

In that case, the .25-06 is all you need. It will even take deer to farther ranges, if you do your part. Personally, I like 117-120gr bullets for this round.

It is truly one of the great all-time deer cartridges.

Buddy of mine has used one ever since he started, great deer gun. He likes 117 gr boattails by Hornady the best for accuracy and has dropped some long shots with it on some serious whitetails.

IMO can't go wrong with this gun for your son and deer. Chances are he'll be like my buddy and own one well into adulthood.

then if those shots will be out to those ranges and a deer only caliber. i would not hesitate getting one. in turn it might turn out to be one of your favorite calibers. i have also heard if you reload it can be be even better.
