HELP! Browning A-bot Recoil pad!

I have a 1993 Browning a-bolt Medallion in .270.I have been wanting to replace the recoil pad to reduce the recoil.I have the new pad so I went to install it.I took out the two screws but the recoil pad will not move at all asit is if I still have serews in it.Can someone tell me what is holding me up.I also have a Browing a-bolt that is only 2 years old and I took the two screws off of the and the pad came right off. What an I doing worng on my 1993?

It must be clued a little bit. I changed the pad on My Browning A-Bolt stalker. It has a synthetic stock though. When I removed the screws it came right off. Is yours a wood stock?

I bet the glued it enough to hold it on while they put the screws in. It shouldn't be stuck to tight thiugh. I have not run into any that were glued on.
