REMINGTON 11-87 RIFLED BARREL CANTILEVER
 

I JUST GOT A REMINGTON 11-87 RIFLED BARREL WITH THE CANTILEVER MOUNT. I KNOW WHEN SIGHTING IT IN I WILL HAVE TO TRY DIFFERNT BRANDS OF SLUGS TO SEE WHICH ONES SHOOT BEST. I WILL TRY LIGHTFIELDS AS THEY WORK WELL WITH MY OTHER RIFLE BARREL SHOTGUNS.

MY QUSTIONS IS TO THOSE WHO HAVE THE SAME SET UP AS I DO, WHICH SLUGS WORK BEST FOR YOU?

Everybody seems to get good accuracy with the lightfields, but I like the damage of Rem. Copper Solids.

I dont have exactly the same set-up (mine is an 870) but I've tried several different slugs and I found that the Winchester 2 3/4 inch sabots work best for me. My groups are easily in the "pie-plate" at 100 yards (have not tried further than that). I didn't do as well with 3" shells...but that might be because I was seriously dreading it everytime I pulled the trigger ;)

I like the Winchester also. The Nosler Partition sabots are terrific!

What did you go with for a scope? I have a red dot and love it!

I have a 11/87 with the rifled cantilever slug barrel and for me the winchester sabots were the best by far! I tried the remingtons, federals, and lightfields. The basic winchester sabots in the grey box grouped the best in 3" mag. But I now shoot the winchesters supremes due to the extra energy they produce and they group great also.

I also have an 1187 that I put a Hastings,ported barrel on.I seem to group better with the 3 inch mags.The Hastings barrel takes a lot of the recoil out.The two and three quarter shells did not group as well.

I've an 1100 with the old, pre cantilever, barrel from Hastings and Hornady H2Ks group 5 shots in a 3 inch circle at 200 yds.
