Since putting the scope on My Bisley Hunter, I can see all the wiggles and realize that the trigger is to long and heavy in the pull department. I am taking in in tomorrow and also taking in a H&R to have the chamber reamed from 357 Mag to 357 Max. This will put it about on par with the 30-30 as a close range deer gun with ten grains less powder per shot. I may take my Savage Model 99 in 250-3000 in for some trigger work as well.

Good luck James! A light trigger can shave a lots off of a guns groups!
IMHO, a trigger job, is the best money you can spend on a gun!

This one didn't seem to bad until I shot it with the scope. The Gunsmith says he can get it down to about 2 lb which should make quite a difference. I would say its more like six- seven now with to much travel as well. The Savage is at least eight lbs.

Awww cmon now..thats what friends are for. Id do it just to help ya out :D Are the triggers even doable on the 99's?

Yes, you can dogood trigger jobs on 99's. It's been years since I've touched one.Make sure you ask the gunsmith if he's worked 99's before though. They're not especially easy guns to work on.

Sounds like good advice. This is a really nice rifle that I found in a pawn shop. It needs the feed ramp polished as well. It feeds Ballistic tips well but lead tips want to drag and get dinged.

Well the Smith is going to rechamber the 357 Mag to 357 Max. He is going to do the trigger on the Bisley and install different sights from Ruger. He showed me his Redhawk with the V Notch rear sight and front bead sight. Much better than the factory ones IMO. He did not however want to touch the trigger on the 99 Savage so I will have to find another gunsmith to do that one. He was honest and just said they are hard to work on and he didn't like messing with them.

James, which gunsmith do you use? The one at Sodak has been pretty slow lately, one of my neighbors has a gun there that still hasn't been touched in over a month....
