gun appraisal
I received a Winchester 22 rifle as a family heirloom and would like a ballpark appraisal on it. It is a model 62A, and was manufactured in the 1940's. It shoots better than any other rifle I have ever shot, no scuffs or rust. It has always been well taken care of. Also -if anyone has any idea where I can find another one of these. I have 2 children that both really enjoy this rifle also and would like to get another. thanks!!!!!!

RE: gun appraisal
My 1989 "Modern Gun Values" puts its value at between $325 and $345.
I would gues that by todays standards it would go for around $350-$450. That's just a guess. Introduced in 1932 and dropped in 1959, when discontinued it retailed for $53. My book didn't differentiate between the Model 62 or the 62A, so I'm not sure the info applies. I'm pretty sure this will translate to your heirloom. |
RE: gun appraisal
8mm/06 can you look up a gun my grandma gave me. It is a Remington Model 33 (1932-35). The barrel is in average condition while the stock has a small hairline crack in it.
Thanks. |
RE: gun appraisal
Here's what I found on the Remington Model 33 in my 1989 book of "Modern Gun Values"...................
"Take-down bolt-action, single-shot; 22 short, long, and LR; 24" barrel; bead front sight, open rear; checkered pistol-grip stock, grooved forearm. Introduced in 1931; dropped in 1936. Used value, $125 - $145." Since the prices listed are over 13 years old, I'd guess your gun to be worth about $165-$215 if in GOOD condition. B/C of the condition you mentioned, I think you'd be lucky if you got $150. Just use it and enjoy it. |
