remington model 78 30-06?

A friend of mine was given this rifle and he asked me if I knew how to remove the bolt, which I don't because I have never dealt with this particular rifle before. He didn't have the rifle on hand when we were discussing it, but I did give him some suggestions. I was wondering if someone could let me know how to properly remove the bolt from this rifle.
Thanks.

Is that a model 788? Seems like the bolt release is a little square button right in front of the trigger. Up inside the trigger guard.Same as the 700. If thats not it, try holding the trigger back as you slide the bolt to the rear. Im guessing though, mild case of CRS working here.

The model 78 has the same aciton as the 700 and is basicly a cheaper model of the ADL. So the bolt release is in front of the trigger (inside the trigger guard) like Larry said.

for every law thats passed - alittle freedom dies

As stated before the model 78 is just a cheaper 700adl so the bolt release is inside the trigger guard.
