870 slug barrel question
 

Can you use a slug barrel made for 3" chambers w/the super mag?I understand you can't use a 3.5" shell,but I was wondering if everything else will match up so you can use 3" slugs with that gun..Thanks!

Nope... you have to get a barrel made to fit your 3.5" supermag.

Of course it may be cheaper/easier to just buy a 3" slug gun.

My buddy has a special purpose turkey gun in 3.5 inch and he just got a run of the mill 870 cantilever barrel from remington. It works just fine, you just can't shoot 3.5 inch shells out of it.

This quote is right from remingtons web site when you go the barrel selector page.

"NOTE: Model 870 Extra Barrels with 3" chambers will fit Super Magnum, Magnum, and 2-3/4" receivers. These barrels will handle both 2-3/4" and 3" shells when used on Magnum receivers. Use only 2-3/4" shells when these barrels are used on 2-3/4" receivers."
