Loctite?

I've always used Loctite on my scope mounts (blue Loctite only) but have been told by several people now that I shouldn't. Never had any problems and only use a very, very small amount on the tip of each screw. What do you guys say?

I'm with you guys.
I've used the blue loctite for years-------and no problems.
So many gun products are the same as something else in a differant package. And more money too.

Some people suggest clear nail polish for use on scope mount screws.

Not that it makes a difference but that Guntite, is made by Uncle Mike's and it happens to be "Blue". Might just be the same stuff loctite manufactures and is packaged for Mike's.

It is better to use it than to not use it, and risk having the scope come loose while hunting! The blue stuff will hold the screws, but also lets you unscrew them when necessary! Don't use any Loctite except the blue kind on guns.

Keep yore powder dry!!

I been using the Blue Loctite for a long time and it has worked flawlessly. For those interested the Blue Loctite is number 242. Do not under any circumstances use the Red (262) Loctite. It's permanent and you'll never get the screw back out. There are several thread lockers available but Loctite does the job and for a better price then those with Gun in their names. Most auto part stores carry Loctite. Ruger Redhawk
