Remington Titanium

Just ordered a Remington Titanium in .06. Anyone out there shot one? Need to scope it. This is to be my lighter/faster-to and kinder-on the shoulder model. Scope recomendation? Will use it for tracking whitetail in the Northeast and high altitude mules in California - so guess variable is likely with good FOV @ low power but trying to keep the weight down. Wonder if that's wise with such a light gun. Seen some articles. Will start with factory ammo and then go to reloads when I have more time. See what she eats best - where would you start?

Take a look at the Burris ballistic plex scope I have one on my Rem mtn rifle really like it.Loading you may want to tryIMR 4350
or H 4350,work up to 57.5 grs.shoots very well in my mtn rifle.using the SST 165's.
Haven't got around to checking the speed yet in my mtn rifle but checked my brothers in a Win. ranger 30/06 and got 2835 fps.
shot very good in this rifle also.
Wanting to get a SVL recoil pad for my mtn rifle but said they wouldn't have one till the end of the year, says it reduces the recoil 50% so that should really help your Titanium rifle.

I would look at Leupold VARIx III in 2.5x8,Nikon or Leupold 2x7x33 would be another great choice as would the VARIXIII 1.75x6E they have been my choice on my lightweight rifles. I had a Zeiss Diavari 3x9MC until recently and I once mounted it on a 700 KS in 280 remington and swung it around and shot it for awhile , I then mounted the VARiX111 2.5x8 on it and the difference was amazing with the nod going to the Leupold..Your going to the expense of buying a lightweight rifle put a scope on it that is in proportion to it. I see way too many people overscope their rifles and throw out the handling characteristics designed into the rifle.

I left out another brand that would be more than acceptable for your use and that is the Swarovski 3x9 variable...it is the lightest 3x9 on the market as well best constructed. It would be at the top of my list but the price may be a problem.

Have a Zeiss 3.5/10 on a Tikka and like it. Fast aquisition reticle and wide FOV. Never shoot at much over 6/7 power anyway. Looked at the quality of the Swarovski and couldn't justify the difference.

kinder on the shoulder? i don't know what kind of guns you usually shoot but a 30-06 in a gun that weights 6.5 lbs with a scope is gonna smack ya with around 25-30 lbs depending on what kinda grain bullets you shoot and it's gonna come back fast to!

Can't compute recoil. Have shot 300 win mags for most of my life and never hear the shot or feel the recoil on a shot at big-game. Range maybe - but not in the real world". So the 06 is a step down even at that weight. I'll let you know if I come back black and blue but willing to take a hit to keep the weight down.

I don't get it either the kinder on the shoulder comment...my KS which weighed about roughly 3/4lbs more in 280 would wack you with full power handloads...no more no less than my 338
