When you are shooting in the rain, you generally get wet.

I just read an article about the effect of rain. According to them there was very little effect.

Other than having your scope lenses get wet so you cannot see through them, rain has little effect on anything.

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms... who's bringing the chips?

Thats an interesting thought, I have often wondered the same thing about high velocity light bullets striking raindrops. Something like a 17 rem. It would seem like they might be deflected or slightly upset wouldnt it? I have seen what looks like vapor trails through a spotting scope before when spotting for a shooter in rain. Army ordinance labs have probably done some research, but who knows?

I doubt the rain drops would deflect the bullet. Maybe if you were shooting a bb gun it would. But with most guns I doubt it would effect them.

Guns cause crime, like flies cause garbage.

I'm sure it has some effect on the trajectory especially long ranges and if shooting offhand probably has a miniscule effect.

I've spent many years on the rifle range while it was raining and the only affect I could see is that I got wet.

On real soggy days, I see a decrease in velocity and opening of groups slightly. There is definately a big enough of an effect for me not to test my loads while raining that bad. Velocity will change by 50-100fps sometimes.

If you aint shootin a flintlock and your scope aint clouded up, you shouldnt have any problem shooting through a down-pour
