sighting in 30-30 lever action????
 

hey guys i usually dont gun hunt deer but so far this year they havent been within bow range and with gun season right around the corner i thought i would get out my father in laws old marlin lever action 30-30 that is scoped and pack it , leaving my 30-06 in the closet, how should i sight this rifle in? ill be hunting thick woods with maybe the longest shot being less than 100 yards ( doubt i would take that long of a shot in the woods) thanks!

The best way to sight it in would be to take the scope off of it. That will pretty much ensure you don't try to overshoot the capabilities of the rifle, and it also makes it quicker and easier to aim in the brush.

In the THICK woods where I hunt, 100yds is not possible. So I sight in at 75yds. That means I shoot an inch low at 25, dead on at 50 & 75.

I have lifted mounts on mine. And a 3-9 scope. I figure the scope give me the added accuracy incase I need to take a shot past 75yds. For any shots under that I'd use iron sights.

Just sight in bang on at 100. It will be about 1/2" low at 25..but basically flat to 100. Out to a hun you won't have to compensate a bit, since you said 100 yard would be the max and most likely under. 0 at 100 would be right just fine. Dead is dead, pie plate is pretty big so why fiddle when you don't really need to, JIMO.

i have a pep sight on my 30/30 and i lode it with 125gr 38gr of powder havent terid it on deer but this time i will.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
