Swiss K31 7.5x55
Hey Guys,
I just bought myself a new rifle, a K31. I shot this rifle at the shooting range and I just fell in love with it. What a nice trigger and the action was smooth and efficient. Does anyone know A) Where can I get a copper brush for it and B) Where is the best place to get cheap ammo for it? Thanks Tom |
RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
I've never found a source of real cheap ammo for my 7.5x55.
Here are a few places to try: Sportsman Guide Natchez Midway Cabelas - Has Hornady SPs that shoot nicely out of my gun. Graf & Sons |

What kind of groups did you get? I saw one recently and think I would love one myself. Wonder if you can get a scope mount?

RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
Brushes and jags are standard .30 caliber...same as your .30/06 or .308.
No cheap 7.5x55. Norma loads it, Graf/Hornady imports ammunition for it, and there is some Swiss ammunition available, too. Look here for lot's of information about Swiss rilfes:http://www.gunboards.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=37 |
RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
I haven't shot mine yet so I don't know what kind of groups. I was able to get a group of about 2.5" with iron sights at 50 yds with the first 4 rounds I had ever shot out of another guys rifle. I also don't normally shoot irons.
Can I get some conscensus on the 30cal brush for this rifle? What is the conversion factor from mm to Cal? I figured it would be a brush between .27 and .30 That is a bit of a bummer about the lack of cheap ammo. I'm buying ammo at Dunhams for a $1 a round. Does it get cheaper from any of those other sources? What are you guys who don't reload paying per round? How many rounds are you buying at a time? Thanks Tom |
RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
yep 308 or (7.62) is the same more or less as 7.5. If you reload for it you use 30 cal bullets. If you want futher confermation my hornady handbook list every bullet from 130 to 180 as .308.
hope this helps Ron |
RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
Thanks for the replies. As long as the weather is good I'll be shooting this Saturday.
Yes you can get scope mounts for them. There are two different styles from what I understand. Tom |

ORIGINAL: statjunk Hey Guys, I just bought myself a new rifle, a K31. I shot this rifle at the shooting range and I just fell in love with it. Thanks Tom The only way to get "cheap" ammo is to buy a bunch of 7.5mm Swiss cases with Boxer primer pocketss, and load it yourself. But as it uses standard .308" diameter bullets, any .30 caliber bullets can be used to load for it, including U.S. military M2 150-grain ball and 7.62X51 (308 WIN) 147-grain FMJBT bullets, which are often sold quite cheaply. The cases aren't cheap, but you can use them practically forever, if you keep the loads at a reasonable level...... |

Eldeguello,
I'm slowly but surely coming around to the idea of re-loading. The issue is time. I don't watch tv so I don't have a hobby or something that I do where I just sit around and do nothing. Eventually. Thanks for the advice. Tom |
RE: Swiss K31 7.5x55
I was shooting one in az at my fathers place, What a treatto shoot. He got his ammo at Graf &sons. Not overly expensive. It was the first time my dad had taken it out since he bought it and we took it all the way back to the rams at 600m...... these rifles can shoot. Congrats and Enjoy!:)
