If you want an old mauser I'd recommend a VZ-24 and if you like I'll ship one to your FFL for $150 plus shipping.

The VZ-24 is a better gun IMO...and by a long ways.

Wayyyyyyyyy overpriced. Mitchell's is way overpriced and has misleading advertising. For what its worth, you can find a M48 with a good bore and in good condition for around $100. All of the extra accessories that come with the Mitchell's package is worth about $25.

Listen to vapodog, he knows what he's talking about. Yugo M48s are very poorly made in comparison to a German or Czech made rifle.

If you want a good rifle that you could easily use for hunting, here would be my list:
-No4 Enfield
-Swiss K31
-German made K98 (this includes those made by germans that were rebuilt by Yugoslavians or Russians, they at least started out being made correctly).
-Pesian (BRNO manufacture) 98/29
-VZ-24
-Ishapore 2A enfield (these were chambered in .308)
-Mosin Nagant 91/30 or M39. Avoid carbine versions if you want a hunting rifle, they tend to not be very accurate.
-Yugo sks
I would have added several more to the list, but I only listed good rifles that could be had for around $200 or less.

What they said!

IMO&E, nothing REALLY wrong with the Yugo M48s, but they are NOT what Mitchell's represents them to be. They are NOT "GERMAN", and they are NOT 98ks.

If you really want one, most wholesalers have them for $90 to $150.
