Just got my 93R17BTVSS .17HMR Savage!!!
Well, after 8 months of waiting I finally picked up my accutrigger .17hmr thumbhole stainless bull bbl Savage today!! The gun is beautiful and I am sure it will shoot like my other Savages INCLUDING my BIG GAME riflesMOA as all Savages seem to do. I will post pics soon. It is gorgeous!!!! Why is it that Savages always shoot 1/2'' groups or better at 100 yds? SUCKS TO BE THE KING OF ACCURACY AND DEPENDABILITY. BTW, my dealer wished he had ordered more; he had six of these arrive monday and they were all gone within 24 hrs. Here is a factory pic but I will post a pic of mine soon. These are hard to come by.

I got one Stainless Steel with composite stock, bull barrell. It shoots great. The only negative thing about the gun is the clip release. If you are shooting off a bench sometimes you bump the clip release and the clip drops down just enough so it won't feed the next shell. At first I though my gun was jamming, turns out I just needed to be more careful. Other than that it is a great little gun.

I have the same one chr103yod; it belongs to my wife now. Even though it has no accutrigger it still shoots awesome.

What scope are you guys shooting on these guns? I've been kicking the idea aroundof getting a bolt action rimfire from savage either in 22 or 17 caliber. I would really like the 17, but not sure I want a bull barrel on it. Seems like every 17 they make has the bull barrel.

Savage and marlin both make models with sporter barrels. Maybe they are just harder to find in your area. They are a bit cheaper as well. You can get a plastic stocked sporter for well under 200 bucks.
As far as a scope it really depends on what you want to do with it. For hunting within 100 yards a normal 3-9x40 or so should do the trick. If you want to target shoot or varmint hunt a higher powered scope with adjustable parallax would be nice. And these guns are accurate enough to warrant a good scope. My .17 wears the most expensive I own. A 6.5-20X44 with adjustable objective and mildots. It's an Alaskan Guide model (cabela's) that cost me around 400 bucks. I shoot mostly off from a bench though. These guns can be hard to find. I picked mine out on Walmart.com and went to the store and had them order the exact gun I wanted.
