Will the W.S.M. survive?

I am just wondering if the calibers will survive since Winchester has ended rifle production. I know other companies chamber for them but just wonder if they will survive.

I feel the .300 wsm and the .325 wsm are here for good. I have a .300 wsm and I love it. I have heard guys on this forum swear by the .270 wsm also and it is selling well too. I myself would be leary of buying the wssm's...JUST my opinion wssm owners.:D

Goodness, if they can't survive with the sales they have had, something is really wrong with thier business models. Winchester ammo and US repeating arms were two different companies.

Why not! I believe the ammo is made by another company, and other arms makers are tooling up for these caliber in there guns. Rich

Heck even Remington dropped their SA ultra mag line and are now chambering the WSM's.

I had not heard this, but I certainly hope it is true. I have (2) 300WSM's, so I hope they are here to stay.

I should say, they are phaseing out the SAUM for the WSM. They still make a few SAUM, but offer more in 270 and 300 WSM. And the info on the SAUM was from a Remington Rep a few months ago.

Anybody's guess I suppose. If I were a betting man I'd say the WSM will survive and the WSSM will wind down.

In my area, the 270 and 300 WSMs are outselling most all other calibers. I don,t think the wssm's can compete with the standard calibers that they are in competition with. JMO.

It seems there are enought rifle manufacturers selling them chambered for WSM that it safe to say they will be around for awhile. It all comes down to whether or not they measure up to other rounds for accuracy and other performance measures. You may not have the variety of loads that you'll see from more "standard" calibers, like .30-06 or .300 WM, but I think they will continue to remain available, if that's what you're worried about.

Like JamesB said, the WSMs (300 and 270) outsell almost all rifles in our area now. I know I have a few buddies and neighbros that have bought new rifles in the last few years, and all were 300WSMs but 2 and those were 270WSMs. I personally would get a 7mm WSM, but thats only because I have stockpiled on .284 bulletts. The 325WSM hasn't been out long enough to sell heavily, but I would imagine it is going to be a good seller as well.

Like everyone said, the WSSMs are kinda sittin at a standstill with the bolt action crowd, but the AR crowd is eating them up. I'd still like to buy a 25WSSM to tinker with. :D

The 270 WSM & 300 WSM should be around for a long time. The 7mm WSM had a bad start and has fallen behind and as for the 325 WSM, it’ll take a little time before we know for sure if it stands up with the 270 & 300...

Not sure myself. I think it's too early to tell. I'm a traditionalkind of guy. I prefer my .22-250, 6mm Remington, .270 Winchester and 7mm Remington Magnum cartridges to shoot. Looking to add aRemington M700 BDL in .300 Rem Ultra Mag. soon too.:D[/align]

I know I bought one when they first came out and within a month there were 4 more I my family. That has alot to say for it. I really like reloading for it, it is a great round to load for and you can really get it to preform.

Same can be said about the cartridges I listed above.

I agree with you, he was wanting to know about wsm family so I was sticking to the subject.I to like all the cart. you listed I have owned a .270 win since the tender age of 11. And now at 43 that is alot of years with that round. But your .300 rum is kinda stretching the traditional thing.maybe a .300 win?? Give a wsm a try you might like it.

Exactly..you may like it. Here is a 100 yd group I shot last week out of a new .300 wsm. 3 bullets that a dime will cover. Not much to NOT like;)
