Sako chambered in Lazzeroni 308 Warbird
Does anyone own one of the new Sako rifles chambered in the Lazzeroni 308 Warbird caliber ??? If so, what are some "pet loads", and what kind of accuracy, and velocity are you getting with it ???
I am considering selling my 257 Wea, and custom 340 Wea, and buying one for an all around deer/elk rifle. |

Have you checked into the price of ammo? if you reload look at the price of the brass! great numbers but not worth the costIMO.
you can search lazzeroni and go to there site . check it out . SOUTH ARKANSAS REBEL |
RE: Sako chambered in Lazzeroni 308 Warbird
My friend has one it shot .50" and under at 100 yds. for about 400 rounds; now it shoots 2.50" at 100 yds. after 800 rounds. I don't know if he let the barrel cool after every 3 rounds because I was not with him all the time. I am trying to convince him to rebarrel it with a custom barrel from Morrison Precision Company. Good luck.

I considered this cartridge also but decided on the 300 ultramag due to much cheaper brass and better barrel life.Velocity is a little less but I do get 3375fps out of my ultra's with a 180gr bullet which is only 100 to 125 fps slower than the warbird.

If I am not mistaken that is a blued barrel on that gun and not SS ...If I were to build a rifle for that particular cartridge I would definitely go SS and preferably 17-4 in lieu of 416 alloy. If it is stainless he could have serious copper buildup which would do that to group size...I guess he should find a gunsmith with a borescope and check it out.

oldelkhunter >>> the model I was considering is stainless with a 26" barrel. The reason I was considering this caliber is that I heard that it will produce 3350fps with a 200gr bullet, which is what I would use for elk. Then I would use the 180gr bullet for whitetail and mulies.
I have heard good reports about the 300 Ultramag also, and I just might consider it real seriously before I buy. I understand Winchester makes it in their Model 70, which would be my preference over a Remington 700. |

Clearcut -I use 180 gr bullets for elk and moose out of my 300 ultra's and they do a great job.You do not need 200 gr bullets for these animals as they just increase recoil and bullet drop.
