My .300 WSM
Well I took my first deer with my new rifle the other day, it was a messed up rack 5 pointer, I wanted to take it out of the herd for breeding purpose. Any way it was about 300 yard shot quartering away with a winchester 150 gr. ballistic silver tip, droped in its tracks before the echo of the shot could be herd !! It hit right behind the shoulder a little high and stopped right at the top of the neck right under the skin. Clean kill. I also have the Bushnell 3x9x50 elite 3200 and it hasn't fogged yet. Very satisfied with my equipment this year. I think I'll be just fine !!

rustydale...
thank you for the info about this caliber in the field. good to hear it worked well. i am leaning twards one of the newer WSM's. what do you have her sighted in at? how is the kick compared to a 30-06sprg? when are you sending me a steak? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> havn't had one in 3 years. |
RE: My .300 WSM
Quilly I have it in winchester 70 featherweight. Its accurate but does have a good bit more kick than my 30-06's but it is also in a lighter rifle. havent got to work up loads yet but have it sighted in 2"high at 100 right now.

Quilly
Also hitting 2" high at 100 yds. I put it a little high behind the shoulder and it hit dead on. I really don't notice much difference in the recoil from the 06, it might be a tad more. My rifle is the Browning A-bolt and the Harris bi-pod helped a lot for my shot. |
