Bolt action .22
 

I have been thinking about getting a .22 just for plinking on a range or maybe competing. I don't want to spend a lot of money, my other hobbies a way to expensive (if you ask my wife). I spoke to a shop that has a few bolt actions, used for under 50 bucks.I have not seen these or have any details about them. The guy did say they are in pretty good shape. I am not looking for a show piece just something to have fun with. Just wondering what you guys think about it.

Savage makes nice rifles with nice accuracy, dont have a lot of experience with their .22's, heres a standard model,

i have a few 10/22 semi autos that i love. I also have a bolt action but its in a 22mag (marlin) i love it and it shoots great. I have heard good things about the savage rifles, and my have to try one out before long

I have a Ruger 77/22 LR and it is a great gun. It is basically a mini version of their full size M77 rifles.I can put 10 shots under a nickel at 30 yards and I can shoot a 1/2" group at 50 yards. It has a 10 round rotary clip but you can get up to 30 or 50 round clips. They are about $400 new, I don't know how much a used one would cost. I wouldn't sell mine for anything.

Gundigest---I'm glad you got a good one..I bought one when they first came out, expecting it to live up to all the gunwriter's rave reviews. I couldn't hit a bull in the butt with it, regardless of what ammo I fed it. Had it sent back to the factory, got it back with some excuse about doing something to the bolt. Shot just as bad as before I sent it back. I checked the inletting.Don't remember if I glassed it or not, but it just refused to shoot. Got traded. Evidently didn't end up at your place.

Some of the old stevens .22 bolts can be found for cheap/ Also look for an older marlin or savage. Lake field is a canadian made .22 that made alot of the savages over the years.
But I think you can pick up a new savage .22 for not much more than a hundred bucks. And they are ridiculously accurate

I have a Savage 93 in .22Mag, a Marlin in .22LR, a CZ 452 in .22LR, and a Win 9422 in LR. If its a budget gun, look at the Marlin.

i have a older model jw-15a . for the price ithink it shoots really well.

I found an old Marlin bolt-action .22 and it is real accurate but it doesn't shoot where I aim. The scope I puton it doesn't adjust far enough, so I guess I'll just use open sights, even though it won't live to it's potential.
