Default 6mm remington 700 vls

I am thinking about getting a 6mm remington 700 vls for shooting coyotes and targets what does everyone think about this caliber?

Very good caliber. About as flat as you're ever gona find. Very accurate caliber also. It should work excellent for what u listed u want to use it for with alot of power to spare on coyote. I find the caliber to be excellent deer medicine also.

Excellent choice. You might also want to take a look at the .243. Ballistically, they are virtually identical. But, it might be easier to find ammo for the .243. I bought a Remington 700 ADL in .243 last year, and it'll put three shots inside a dime at 100 yards.

I have that exact rifle in the 6 mm Rem. and enjoy shooting it except I haven’t had much time to check with different loads. I would say that if you’re going to reload the 6 mm would work but if you going to purchase your bullet then the 243 would be the way to go because of better choice of ammo. Both the 6 mm and 243 will work for your application with good optics. Good Luck...

good choice. i think 6mm rem is superior to the .243 . the longer case neck appears to reduce throat erosion. the 243 can produce inexplicable pressure spikes. i wish remington chambered for 6mm in more rigs than just the vls
