Been using BT's for deer for years...satisfied customer. They should work very well for you.
I don't like neck shots either, a H/L is the spot to go. however if your confident and thats the shot go right ahead. I have just seen to many long tracks and suffering from flubbed neck or head shots to suggest that placement. Anybody who says no meat/less waste is full of it. In rib and out rib will yeild less wastage, on a buck good stew or jerky meat in that old neck.

barnesX.308...
they are federal premium's. as for neck shots, if i am in the swamps and the only shot i gcan get is a neck shot i will take it. only draw back is ruining the roast. but then again you hardly get a roast if you mount the deer.
i shot my first doe with a rifle in this same gun and caliber. it was a neck shot at 75yds with win BT's. but after what my buddy went through i stopped using the win BT's. seems the federal's penetrate alittle better.
knowing my luck i the day i take this rifle out i will see the bear since i have my tag. i take it the BT's would not work on bear?

Those Ballistic Tips will work on a bear with good shot placement. If I saw a bear I wouldn't hold back because I was using Ballistic Tips instead of another bullet. If I were going specifically for bear I'd be packing the old Barnes X bullets. The one bear I got was actually with Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claws but I started reloading that year and found that the Bear Claws were way more expensive than the Barnes. I since then switched.
