RE: birthday
I would suggest a nice Remmington 11-87 semi Auto. Its a nice light gun gas operated and you can build a nice deer gun with a rifeled barrel and a scope or use as is for a bird and rabbit gun. Wal-Mart has them for 599.00. Save a little more money and you can get a nice slug barrel for about $250.00 from the catologs. Good Luck and good hunting Mike

Remington 11-87. I have never owned one, but i want to.

RE: birthday
While I'm not a huge Remington fan, those 11-87's are a good gun.

ORIGINAL: Maine Shooter While I'm not a huge Remington fan, those 11-87's are a good gun. Ditto! |

RE: birthday
How about a mossberg? They are pretty cheap.i think their semi auto goes for about 650.
|
RE: birthday
the mossberg 935 in an awsome gun 3 1/2 shoot good and so do the 2 3/4 it runs for $560
|
RE: birthday
i also have a 500 and a 935.... i just love shotguns...you can never have enough..... beretta, browning, benelli,?
|
RE: birthday
Benelli M1 Super 90 fits your bill just perfect.

RE: birthday
I suggest (in no particular order) the 11-87 [easily in your price bracket] the browning gold or silver line and the beretta AL390 or AL391. The last two may be hard to find at the $800 mark but it should be possible. I haven't checked prices on them ever but on the net I've found a few going for the mid 700s.
Now, if you aren't opposed to a pump the remington 870 wingmaster or Browning BPS will never fail you and make beautiful field companions...and there's that added comfort of knowing it will cycle regardless of how nasty things get. |
RE: birthday
Well I suggested the 11-87 cause I thought you were looking for somthing nice light and versitile. My shotgun of choice is the Browning Auto-5 there is no other shotgun in the world that will ever come close to it over 100 years of production and every gun manufacturer copied it one time or another. Now it will cost you a bit more then the Remmington if you are lucky enough to find one. I don't think they make them any more as the cost of production of the A-5 is very exspensive. But I'm sure if you look you can find a great used one. I own 3 of these one I bought in 1986 and I have taken at least 100 deer with this gun. When my dad passed away I got his which was made in the 1930s and I still use and have taken a couple deer with it. Also I have my Grandfathers which was made around the turn of the 20th centry, I still use and took a deer with it last year. All of these guns have been work horses as back with my grandfathers and fathers they had no money so this was the only gun they owned, and it did it all. I can't think of any other gun that has the performance results of the Browning Auto-5. Now I will thell you they kick like a horse as they are spring not gas operated. So if you want my opinon these are the only guns (Browning A-5+ Remmington 11-87) worth owning if you are looking for longgevity, dependebility, and reliability. that you can take to the bank. That is if you are looking for an auto loader. Mike

RE: birthday
is there any other brands like beretta, ruger? how about an o/u, any recomendations for that?
|
RE: birthday
The Wal-Mart's in my town have an 11-87 12 ga chambered in 2 3/4"-3" and camoed in Mossy Oak Obsession for only $500, a real steal.

RE: birthday
Buy a Benelli M1 Super 90...it is lighter then a 11-87 and costs justa little more if you shop wisely. Best shotgun so far that has been mentioned. Tell your worst enemies to buy Berettas.
