clening kits

I was wondering what everyone is using to clean their rifles?? I have a 270 wsm and sofar all I have is a boresnake. What are the best ways to go about cleaning your rifle, and what kits are good. Has anyone trtied those compact otis kits. I have never used a cleaning rod, should I be using one??

Do not buy one of those kits with the multi piece aluminum cleaning rod.The rods flex and rub on the rifling which isn't a good thing.Buy a good quality coated steel rod like a dewey and buy a .270 bronze brush and a matching jag. Then buy a bore guide, some properly sized cotton patches,a powder solvent like shooters choice,a copper solvent like barnes cr-10 and a good gun oil like the one made by g-96.That will include all the components that you need to properly clean your gun without damaging the barrel.
