I have a buddy that uses those Federal Flight Control shells in his 870. He killed a gobbler hunting with me last Monday at 32 yards and not only did it pulverize the birds head but the wadding actually hit the turkey. Never seen that before at that distance. Still I love my Winchester Supreme number 5#'s.

Ok guys I know I argue a lot on here but I can't help it.
What is the Point? Why would you need to shoot farther than 35 yards?
I don't turkey hunt anymore, I'm teaching my boys the finer points of the set up, the call sequence, understanding what the birds are doing etc. I enjoy that more than I would actually trying to kill more gobblers myself.
The funnest part of turkey hunting if outwitting the buzzards. Fooling them into coming to you and getting close. Maybe when I was a kid I would have shot a bird at 60 yards but I teach my kids that its better to let em go than to wound one.
I quess time has past me by though, because I don't like those damn blinds either. It just looks like cheating to me.

Point is, birds are notorious for hangin up at 45 yards. It happens more time than not.
Second point is if your patterning really well at 50 yards, its going to awesome at 30. The point is not to get by with little a weapon as possible.
This is a guns page. So we talk about guns and performance and things like that. You might like to go to the "turkey forum". Talk ethics and setup and all those things.
