Gun cleaner question

The gun cleaner that I buy at the local hunting store has the exact same smell and performs the same as brake clean. Brake clean is a fraction of the price. Has anyone used brake clean to clean your gun? The label on the can of ABS brake clean says it Is safe for plastic and rubber.

I wanted to ask this before I make a big mistake and damage my guns.
Thanks All!

Like to know this one too. I know I use or have used carb intake cleaner. You just got to makes sure you lube it up good because the intake cleaner takes all oil and leaves it dry, but cuts the build up fast! [8D]

I don't know whether brake clean is ok or not. I'd prefer not to take any chances. Gun cleaner isn't that expensive --

RE: Gun cleaner question

Don't know about brake fluid. I know lots use carb cleaner to rid the bore from the factory gunk they put in it for shipping/storage. However you must follow the carb cleaner with a good soaking (several patches) of a decent quality gun oil or you'll have a rusty mess on your hands.

I'll just stick to my MC#7, Sweets or barnes Cr10 for copperand BC Sheath gun oil. I use some BF CLP as well, for certain applications.
