are these good groups?

Here are two three shot groups that i shot the other day with my encore chambered in .223 w/ a 26" barrel at 100 yds off of my back pack so it wasn't the best rest but it was pretty good. the first pic is with winchester ballistic silver tips(55 grain) the second is with some federal ammuntion that i bought in bulk(50 grain). i still have a little wiggle in the barrel after putting the x1 oversize hinge pin in the gun so do you guys think a x2 would tighten the groups up much. also i was thinking about getting a trigger job if that would help accuracy.

Why, coitinley! They seem OK to me! (What caused that high-left flyer in that first group?)

Here's 5 shots I once fired with a 6mm/284 @ 100 yards - 100 grain Sierra, MV 3350 FPS..... Later groups were similar, but none quite as good as this one.

Those are pics of a .5 and .75 inch groups. Not .75 and 1" groups.
Better than you thought huh. ;)

Measure center to center not outside edge to outside edge. Another way to do it is measure outside edge to outside edge and subtract bullet diameter. This will give you C-C measurement.

Measure like this and I bet you will feel much better about them. ;)

Id say he means it gets pretty deep on here at times when numbers are discussed :D BTW Nice groups!

I think he means that those are pretty darn good groups and a heck of a lot better than what so many people claim to be able to shoot regularly.

I trigger job will likely help a bit and shooting off a bench will likely help a lot.

Measure your groups from center to center of holes. Decent groups for any hunting guns. Good job

I believe he means it is a lot easier to fire a 0.5" group with a keyboard than it is with a rifle..... or something like that!
