Can anyone tell me if the Ruger m77 mk-1 [tang safety] have factory adjustable triggers? thanks chad

I believe you will have to take it to a smith tohave itadjusted.

Yes the original m-77 has an adjustable trigger.

bigbulls, can youn tell me how to adjust the ruger trigger {which screw is which] or direct me to a site that can thanks chad by the way I have several mk-2 rifles but i am in the process of buying my first mk-1 so i know very little about them thanks again

You have three screws that you can turn and you will need to remove the gun from the stock.

The screw in the back of the trigger at the top (D22) adjusts the triggers creep. There is a set screw (D44) that goes through the same hole but in front of the trigger that will need to be loose before you can adjust the one in the back. Once you have it adjusted make sure you retighten the set screw in the front.

There is another screw where you put your finger (D43). This screw presses on a spring and adjusts the trigger pull weight.

The third screw is the over travel adjustment (D45). This one it pretty self explanatory. Screw it in to reduce over travel and out to get more over travel.

If you don't have the utmost confidence in adjusting this trigger system take it to a gunsmith. It's not worth getting hurt over the $30 he would charge you to adjust it properly.

Bigbulls, thank you for the information and yes I am a very capably mechanic to perform the trigger job I am a pipefitter by trade but have had some gunsmithing classes [from my dad he has been in the business for 20 years I am trying to work on my own without his help] thanks chad

I own a Ruger M77 (tang safety) in 25.06.
Weight of pull can be adjusted with out removing the action from the stock. The other two screws cannot but seldom require adjustment.
To adjust the weight of pull use a allen key inserted though the trigger guard. Turning it counterclockwise reduces the weight of pull to as light as two pounds. Be carefull as to light of a setting can be dangerous in hunting situations.

You mean, "can you adjust the trigger on the old type tang-safety M77??" YES! You can adjust it yourself. It is made so the owner can adjust it, unlike the present ones. Likewise for the older No. 1's!!

Get yourself an owners manual for it.
