red dot laser on ruger 10/22

has anyone ever put a laser on a ruger 10/22, or any rifle for that matter. These little laser seem extremely helpful, but i have just never seen any. Do they work at day well? Where can i buy one at? Do you think its worth the money to get it and put it on.

i used to have one on mine, but i took it of so i could put it on my shotgun. i really liked having it on my 22, with unlimited eye reliefe it was convenient to shoot it in any shooting position, but i wanted something more precise so i bought a 3-9 tasco.just give it a shot and see what you think.

also, they do work good during the day if you have hem on a higher setting. I bought mine at a gander mountain for 40 bucks, i think they have them even cheaper from cabelas.

Are you talking about a red dot scope, or a laser that projects a dot onto the target? There is a difference. Red dots work pretty well, day or night. Some lasers will work in day light, but they will be hard to see at any distance. Not to mention lasers are not legal to hunt with in most states. Red dots are.

I have used both on shotguns, pistols rifles and bow. My opinion is that they work well for what they were designed for, shooting people in the dark. Other than that I would rather have a good scope or well defined open sights.

Red dots are loads of fun, especially on a handgun, semi-auto 22, or a turkey gun.

I'd save the laser for a defensive handgun if I was going to get one.
Don't use them for hunting, even if they are allowed, since the laser is very visible from the game animal's viewpoint.

Now if you can get ahold of an IR laser (Infrared, and not visible without night vision gear), and find a place where it's legal tohunt withit, have a blast, and then invite me over to help you break it in properly. :D
