RE: Hard Kickers
Just tell him to stand with his back straight and feet together......
|
RE: Hard Kickers
IMHO, don't do it without him knowing that "this is the stout stuff", even if he "deserves it."
We've got too many "recoil whimps" out there already without going out of our way to create more of them! (especially with rifles) |
RE: Hard Kickers
How bout some nice partition golds?;););)(3 inchers) will do the trick out of ANY GUN. I know that I can tell the difference between regular slugs and even some large magnum rifles. "AND I WEIGH 260 POUNDS" I also shoot as often as I can. I have a 7mm ultra mag, 300 ultra mag, 338 winchester mag, 300 win mag....plus many others. And i can honestly say that, my marlin 512 loaded with 3 inch, 12 ga partition gold slugs is my least favorite gun to shoot. (This is honest)
I remember one day going to the range and shooting 55 rounds out of it after shooting my 30-06. My arm felt like it was going to fall off. (I like to shoot as much as possible to illiminate anticipated recoils and flinch. I want to get rid of them so I wont encounter them in the field, where it matters most.) Ishoot as much as I can and am very comfortable shooting large magnums. After about 5 shots from the 3 inch partition golds, it starts to hurt and from then on its a mind game for me. Im sure if this kid is new to shooting or even if he shoots on occasion, the 3 inch partition golds will shake him up a bit.;););) |
RE: Hard Kickers
If you got a single shot like a NEF or something like a Savage 311 with a hard butt plate let him shoot a 2oz 3" turkey load in that.
I did once and I will never do it again. By far themost painful gun I have ever shot. |
RE: Hard Kickers
3" rem. buckhammers will get his atention quick.
|
RE: Hard Kickers
Treat him like you would like to be treated. It always pays off in the end.

RE: Hard Kickers
Awwwww James, it's always fun to see a smart arse get a good whollop from a gun.
We got an idiot salesman that has an old single shot 3" 12 ga. It was already light enough but he wanted us to cut the barrel to 20 inches, lengthen the forcing cones, install screw in chokes, drill and tap the barrel for a scope mount, and some other stuff. Basically put about $500 in labor into this $100 gun. And bugs us about every day wondering if its finished yet. Like we don't have customers guns to do first. ![]() This gun weighs about 4 - 5 pounds and he wants to use it as a turkey gun.[:o] I test fired it in the tank from my hip (wasn't stupid enough to shoot from the shoulder) after the barrel was cut and the forcing cones lengthened. That gun has more recoil than any gun I have ever test fired. I want to be there with a video camera the first time he pulls the trigger on a 2oz 3" turkey load in that thing. ;) The footage will be priceless. ![]() He was half scared to shoot a 30-378 with a brake on it. That gun aint got nothin on this little 12ga. ;) |
RE: Hard Kickers
How old is the fella?
|
RE: Hard Kickers
Yes most 3" turkeys will kick good enough!
|
RE: Hard Kickers
I had this done to me at a young age and if I dont really really buckle down when i shoot..I have a flinch to this day.[:@] I cant imagine anything kicking harder than a short barrelled single shot with 3 inch mags...I havea Stevensthat kicks so hard the stock is split. Thing is ridiculous recoiling..
