Try one of the new-type Simmon scopes. Perhaps a 3X-9X. They are reasonably priced, and if their new internal adjustment system lives up to claims/test results, it will be mechanically superior/strongerthanany other make! If their optics keep pace, they may have a winner.

i have a 3x 9, but its kinda plain, i like it an dits killed deer but...i want another.my price range would be like 350 max. i know its not a lot for scopes these days but i was wondering if i could maybe get some advice.something with a good zoom, very easy to adjust, just a good long range scope.

RE: scope?

For 350 you can get a burris fullfield II 4.5x14 scope with the balistic plex reticle or whatever its called. Would be nice for long range and comes with afree 12x24 spotting scope. I havent hunted with mine yet but it is very clear and bright. Might want to check it out.

Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40. Good luck.

I agree with the Zeiss. THough it might cost a little more than your budget but well worth it.

RE: scope?

I like the Zeiss too, but I have to ask, what do you consider long range? 300 yds, 400 yds, 500 yds or what?

I like Simmons and you can find them reasonably priced. My holds up on a .300 Win Mag so sure it will be fine for the 270![8D]

Out of the cheaper scopes I think the Simmons Aetec is hard to beat. Natchez has them on sale right over 100$. For a nice 10 or 12 power scope.

Yepper agree with the Aetec. I have a Pro 50 and love it, looking for another Simmons when I get home from Iraq for my muzzle loader (used that one for my 7 x 65R [8D]

You might want to chech out ebay for a leupold vx111,2.5 to 8x fine scope, great warranty that you will probably never use. I picked a new in box for $330 this time last year.

You can get a VX-I in a 4-12 for the kind of money you are thinking of. The VX-l is a darn good scope. No snob appeal because there are not enough numbers behind it but it will last for many years and shoot better than most people can shoot anyway. The Aetec is a great scope as well. I have a 2.8x10 and a 3x12 on a couple of my rifles right now. Gather light very well and tough as hell. The new ones are up around the 200.00 dollar mark but there might still be some older ones left in stock. 200.00 will buy a good tough reliable scope. My 270 Model 700 ADL synthetic is extremly accurate I have a VX-l on it and the rifle and scope brand new was about 525.00. You can spend a lot more but it won't do a better job.

The bushnell elite 3200 3x9x40 is a good scope for the money.I think that it is a better value than anything leupold offers for the same money.

For $200.00 You can get a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9X40 or a Lulipold 3-9X40 VSII on your gun this is all you will ever need I use both of these scopes and am very happy with them especially in the first and last light. A lot of times if you have time to waite and watch you can get them on sale for even less. I went to Dicks sporting goods used my points plus they were haveing an end of season sale and ended up getting one for 120.00 so it pays to waite for the sales. Mike

I gotta agree with the Bushnell Elite! Tested with 1,000 rounds of .375 H&H mag, and held a perfect zero, lifetime guarentee, PLUS a 1 year no questions asked full monry back guarentee. The Elite also have THE BEST light transmission capabilities of ANY SCOPE on the market at ANY price!

Really an incredible scope for the money!!

3-9x x 40mm should run you at most $250.00

I'd second the idea ofa Nikon Buckmaster in 3-9x40 ora Leupold. Not the cheapest scopes on the market, butthey are the least expensive scope on the market that I would actually consider putting on a gun.
