get 2 bore snakes that fit the 2 calibers you have, some rem oil, and some action cleaner, all availible at walmart
While the boresnake does work for a quick cleaning in the field it is not a proper replacement for a cleaning rod, brushes and patches. In fact a good copper solvent will eat the bronze in the boresnake. Not at all practical for removing copper deposits.

Can somebody post pictures of a stainless, chromemoly steel, or chromed bore that was scratched or otherwise dmaged by a softer metal (i.e. brass or aluminum)?

I personally believe that this is a myth but I could be proved wrong if I saw evidence.

I like to use a high quality powder graphite to lubricate the components on my guns. Oil can gum up in the cold and make your guns not work, so IMO graphite is the only way to go if you get cold weather (around zero and below).
