Weather-proof for old gun?

I have an old 9mm pistol that had not been taken care of when I got it. I tried to clean it up as best I could, but it's in bad shape. I was wondering ifa person could have a gun recoated in the weather-proof coating like you see on waterfowl shotguns? I can't find any info on it, but I heard someone talking about it. Is this possible?

I'm not sure, but it may be similar to dura-touch, except you can put it on the barrel too instead of just the stock?

I appreciate the help.

I don't know...but I would do a search on "parkerized" or "parkerizing". Remember good ole' Blueing was/is the original weather-proofing. May just look into have a 'smith reblue the thing.

I thought about that but I'm looking for the black weatherproof stuff. I'll check on the parkerizing- Thanks!

Thanks Superpig- thats exactly what I was looking for. I found this same site last night. And a fraction of the price I thought it would be. Has anyone ever done this?
