I have 2 Colt AR's and would buy more if the right deal came along. My sons and I have a ball with them at the range. You can get scope mounts and just about anything else that you can dreamup for one.

You will want a flat top upper receiver to put a scope on the AR-15. Those mounts that put the scope above the peep sight on the carrying handle are not very solid and put the scope up so high that you have no cheek weld.

i own an ar and to tell you the truth a scope is nice but those iron sights are good out to 200 yards for small target shooting (pie plate size). i wear glasses and love my scope but in the service i was trained on open sights and given a sturdy rest the .223 is a nice, easy to shoot round. a little practice and you could easily hit plates at 200 yrds with an ar. ammos cheap so don't worry about getting a scope before you start to break-her-in:)

you never know open sights might be the thing for you. to this day i'm a lot quicker on target with open sights than with any scope or red dot for that matter.

Get you a red dot scope, unless you need to magnify something. I think you can get one from walwart for about 30 - 40 bucks.

Colt AR's tend to be the best so you already have one of the best ARs available. I would agree with the opinions above that scopes aren't necessary for this type of firearm. What did you pay for you new rifle?

Great time to learn to use the Peep sight!
It can be very accurate with practice

2 or 3 rounds????? How in the hell do you only take 2 or 3 shots from a weapon like that?? BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM .....she's got a 30 under her and I aint unloading it by hand ;) I paid $850 for my M4 Bushmaster new last year. I think the Colts go for about $100-$150 more then that new.
