44 ruger carbine

I have a ruger 44 semi carbine rifle( the older model)that started jamming after i shot some cast bullets and laterI read not to shoot cast bullets in it because they would clog the gas ports.
Where are the ports and how do you clean them.

This forum is great
Thanks James

I don't know exactly where the gas ports are but I assume they are in the barrel toward the end of the forearm. What I would do is clean the barrel very good ,and also clean the action. It's been a long time since I've taken mine down for a thorough cleaning so I cantbe as much help as I'de like to. But if you don't figure it out soon e-mail me and I'll see what I can do to help you. My address is posted on this site!

It has the tube type, this is a older model made from the early 60ies
to the mid 80es.

Naconst, I have both a lever (marlin) and the semi auto, I like the lever better because it will shoot light reloads, wife can handle them better.
I'm also teaching my nephew to shoot and I think it is a good starter gun.
