7mm-08...or the 25-06..please choose???
..Ok i have two choice, one being the 7mm-08 or the 25-06
for the up coming deer season, cant make my mind up,all shots should be under 300 yards,so i would like some feedback on these rounds, like what bullet to use in the guns..anything ....:)..thanks which would you use??????????? ..JESUS IS COMING BACK BE READY... |
RE: 7mm-08...or the 25-06..please choose???
I had the exact same choice three years ago.I went with the 7mm-08 because I like the fact that it is short action, and you can load slightly heavier bullets when needed.I know that the 25-06 is great and you would be happy either way but I wouldnt trade my 08 with 139 grain hornady's for anything.

RE: 7mm-08...or the 25-06..please choose???
My choice for an all-around rifle is my 7mm-08 Rem, but I still want to get a 25-06 Rem. Not that is is better, but just because I want one. I think either one will serve you well.

RE: 7mm-08...or the 25-06..please choose???
The key here is all shots should be under 300 yards. I would unhesitatingly choose the .25-06 if I thought shots would be longer than that, but since not, the 7mm/08 is probably the absolute perfect cartridge for your requirements. Load up 139-150gr bullets and good luck!

That's a tough one-I'm glad I have one of each.If I had to keep one or the other,I'd most likely keep the .25-06.Not that it's a better round, just that I use mine for groundhog hunting during the Spring and Summer and that '06 can really reach out and touch them.

7MM-08!
It's a great short action caliber! It is arguably the best all around deer cartridge going! |
RE: 7mm-08...or the 25-06..please choose???
I have both the 25-06 and 7mm-08. Both are execelent for deer! For shots 300 yards my first pick would be the 25-06...not that the 08 coulden't be used at that range,I just like a flatter shooting caliber for longer ranges. As for the bullets I shoot 139gr Hornady for the 7mm-08 and 120gr Hornady HPBT for the 25-06...
