anyone own any of these guns?

does anyone own any of these guns and could they tell me what they think of them?

. colt lightning pump
. winchester model 90 in .22 cal
. remington model 8 or 81
. remington model 14 or 141
. marlin model 16,17,19,21,24,26,30,42,or 49 (exposed hammer pumps)

I have been looking at some of these for awhile now...and i like some the the interesting mechanics of them. what i would like to know is whether or not these are shooter guns. Or if and when i do get them if i should just put them away for the wall or collection. I have read in many places that the marlins with the exposed hammers are not safe. And yet there are always a group of people that claim that they shoot them all the time with no problems. I have found a couple of the above modelsin 90% -pristine condition and i would probally just keep them put away. but I also would like to get some old beat up ones, fix them up a bitand go to the range with them. They look like they would be fun to shoot....I just was wondering if this is a stupid idea or if there is anyone else out there that likes to shoot the old ones or if its just me. Thanks alot guys for any help.

RE: anyone own any of these guns?

if i were you , and i were to purchase any of those , even if they were still shooters , i'de put them away as collector pieces. and yes , i like to shoot the old ones , especially the older calibers.

as for safety issues , your best bet would be if you were to purchase one of the listed firearms , would be to have it fully examined by a competent gunsmith , there's just so many things that could be damaged or just worn down to the point of rupturing under the pressure of a recently fired round , that cannot be seen by a mear eye inspection. another thing to think about if you want to fire one of them would be reduced power/pressure loads.

hope that helps buddy
