Marlin 336 ejector question
 

Ok guys got a question for ya. I COMPLETLY disassembled my 336 action tonite, (every screw, pin, spring etc) to cleanand upon reassembly noticed that the 2 little screws that hold the ejector in place when tightened really sunk below level with the side of the receiver. I checked my other three 336's and noticed that all of them were flush with the side of the receiver. Since this is an old gun (late 60's) and since it is controling basically a piece of spring stock is it because of wear? Or did I do something wrong in assembly. The rest of the action works great! Bolt cycles smoothly, casings cylce in and are ejected fine, but these screws confuse me. Also should I have used some sort of temporary Loc-tite when reassembling all of the screws?

*Let me say I am no where near any sort of gunsmith but tearing apart this gun (the first lever action I have ever done) really gives me an understanding of how this gun works!! I never realized that the lever is notfastened to the bolt.

I'm not sure if I can help you but, first do you have a schmatic of your gun,second you may be able to get a schmatic from Midwayusa.com from their gunsmithing section,they list them to help customers idintify parts they may need. I have a model 1895 and I've only been deep enough to replace my trigger with a wild west trigger from midway and man what a difference 2.5 lbs and crisp.Their will be others to answer you and maybe they'll be more help! The ejector ins't held in place with any screws. It has a simple pin that fits in a hole.

Those two screws I think you are refering to, on either side of the ejector hole and lower, are just filler screws for a receiver mounted peep sight. Just like filler screws in the top of the receiver for scope bases.

Just put a little loc-tite on the screws and set them flush.
