6mm remington , or 7mm-08 remington

i'm planning on getting one of the special runs of the remington 7600 , the calibers i've narrowed it down to are the 7mm-08 , and the 6mm remington , now keep in mind i've allready got a .243 , .25-06 , .30-06 and .280 remingtons , and this will just be a collector piece in a caliber that i don't allready have , allthough i will shoot it ( it's not a piece for collector value , just adding to the collection . your thoughts on caliber please please ??? :):):):):):)

Since you already have the .243 I’d go with the 7mm-08 or if you reload you can use the same bullets for the 6 mm and the .243 . I have both cartridges you’re thinking about and enjoy shooting them both. Good luck...;)

I would get the 6MM Remington myself. Thats one of my favorite calibers. Either would be a fun caliber to shoot. I love the 7600 Remington anyway.

thanks for the replies , i'm kind of leaning towards the 6mm remington , as it's not offerd in very many rifles anymore , i also like the 7mm-08 because it's a good deer cartridge , eventhough the last rifle i had it in was a real lemon in my opinion , it was one of the first 7mm-08 remington m700 mountain rifle dm's , and that clip didn't feed worth **** , and it made a very tinny rattling noise , once again , any and all replies are appreciated and i welcome anymore replies and any debate as well but , i've got to be honest with you , i've never had a 6mm remington before , i know it's history but i don't have any experience with it. so i'm kind of at a dissadvantage in debating that cartridge but , i'll try. ;)keep'em coming guys:):)

Ya know, I like the 6mm remington. It was a misunderstood cartrige and is very capable. I have a 243 and only prefer it for the plentiful ammo. Besides, 7mm08 couldnt kill a misquito!
A little humor there for ballistically challanged!

6mm. I've got one in the rem model seven and love it. It's a killer too.

i've got a 6mm rem and i love it. It's a good deer rifle. I'd never give mine up. Go with the 6mm rem. 7mm08's are great guns but 6mm rem's are hard to find and a joy to shoot. Once u shoot it i bet u put you're 243 away in the cabinent for good and find yourself grabbing the 6mm over it. ;)

well the 6mm has the same bullet as the .243 and the 7mm-o8 has the same casing as the .243. hard choice. id go with the 6mm though cause i dont really like the -08's much cause they are week and slow.

Thats the best idea but if you dont have all the $at once you have to decide which to buy first sooo....

I guess Id go with the 7mm-08. I have a 6mm and dont shoot it very often, its in an older 788 Rem which I dont like very much so that may be the problem either way itll be good.

7mm-08 all the way.

Chuckling at the 08 being slow and weak :D:D EJ...that IS the proper attitude...lol when in doubt...buy both. If I were buying to hunt I would get the 08.....if its s collectible sometimes shooter than i would get the 6mm. Or do the best thing and buy both as EJ said.

thanks for the replies guys , so far , i'm really leaning towards the 6mm remington . however , i noticed a winchester model94 bigbore in .375 win. and includes 3 boxes of factory ammunition , for sale in the paper that just might change my whole purchase plan , it's 450 dollars though but , from what i've heard , that's what they'll be fetching now until somebody buys the factory and gets the name licensing and starts making them again. :D:D:D:D

7mm-08 if you are going to hunt with factory loads, 6mm if it is for a collection or if you reload.
