RE: looking for advise for a .22
Well I went down to my locker to search for an answer to your question. And I found the answer, actually the answer came three times and it was always the same.
Ruger 10/22. How can you go wrong.
Out of the box it'll last a couple lifetimes easily with proper care, cleaning and maintenance. Or you can customize it to your heart's desire. I don't believe there in another .22 with more custom and aftermarket parts available.
About $170 to start.
Go to Ruger firearms and search their offerings of .22's. And make sure you have some time set aside to browse. THERE'S ALOT OF CHOICES!

10/22 semi auto never seem to shoot as well as a bolt. For the money a CZ or one of the new Savages. They went to a accu-trigger on their 22s this year. Its a really nice trigger. You wont find on as nice on another 22 for the money. http://www.savagearms.com/markiibv.htm

I have to agree with an earlier poster. You cannot go wrong with a CZ. I have owned a 10/22 and it was not even in the same lague with my cz. You might also look at dealers and gun shows for an older bolt .22 . I recently purchased a Winchester 69 and love it. Good luck and have fun.
