Wish List
Upon my recent discovery that corporate trolls do indeed lurk these forums, I have decided to give them something worthwhile to read. Maybe some suggestions for design improvement on a current model. Or a model and caliber configuration that they should think about producing. Maybe a wildcat cartridge worthy of a production rifle. The sky's the limit. Post your suggestions here.
I'll start. To the fine folks at Browning: Your rifle designs are among the best currently offered. However, the detachable magazine needs work. The Stoney Point says I can seat my bullets a lot longer than specs, yet because the magazine is so close to standared cartridge length, the magazine is useless for rounds loaded to fit closer to the lans. This hasn't affected accuracy in this rifle, but it is annoying not to be able to expirement a little more. I hope you will take this into consideration when designing new rifles in the future. Thanks. |
RE: Wish List
To all arms manufacturers and ammunition companies.
The 35 caliber centerfire cartridge is a badly over looked one. With the 350 Rem mag being the most powerful one commercially loaded and the only one that comes close to bridging the gap between the .338 magnums and super magnums to the .375 magnums. There needs to be some serious developement here. I propose a 350 Remington ultra magnum. Another cartridge that should be brought out would be the .270-08. Every other conceivable bullet diameter from .24 to .358 is being loaded into the .308 Winchester case but the wonderful .277" bullet always gets overlooked. This one cartridge would make the .277 family complete. We do not need any more cartridges in the 7mm, or 30 calibers. If a person can't find what they need on one of the many choices available then they may as well give up. HORNADY, what in the world is taking you soooooooo long to load for the WSM family of cartridges???????????? I mean, it's only been something like 5 or 6 years now. [&:] |
RE: Wish List
wow the 350 rem ultra mag sounds sweet I like you style bb
|
RE: Wish List
I'd like to see more guns in .35 whelen and .280 rem myself.
I'd like to see a respecably accurate mini-14 with readily available hi-cap mags, scratch that, I'll just buy an AR-15. |
RE: Wish List
bring back the .264 mag. with a 26 inch barrel.
|
RE: Wish List
My wish came true.
I prayed that Remington would bring back a line that should have never been stopped. None other than the Mighty Sendero! They are baaaaaaaack :) Go big Green!! |
RE: Wish List

|
RE: Wish List
Chinese M 14 copys at walmart for $300 or so.
|
RE: Wish List
Id like to see Ruger add a new lever gun in the .480.
Id like Browning to come out with a 25WSM A-bolt. Id like to see more stainless bolts on blued guns like Ruger already has. Id like Ruger to put a trigger on the Mark II that isnt crap. Id like to see more factory camo synthetic stocks instead of the crappy black. |

http://www.marstar.ca/gf-norinco/M-14S.shtm
If you lived in Canada i would tell youto go here, but since theres some sort of crazy anti-chinese firearm import ban in the states because Norinco officals were going to import a big load of Full-auto Ak-47's back in the 80's. Marstar sell Norinco M-305 (M-14) for $400 Cdn. they look like a nice gun to me. my wish is for all gun laws applying to law-abiding citizens to lifted and for ruger to make a mini-14 in 6.8 rem. spl. that will shoot moa groups |
RE: Wish List
How about manufacturers start putting iron sights back on their rifles? Sounds like a plan to me.
Also, I could see a 50 caliber hunting round being developed. I would like to see a sporterized semi auto 50 (not the BMG, but a new round) something like a beefed up 45-70. A large, heavy, medium speed slug with incredible penetration and shock power. Who needs expansion when the hole starts out at half an inch? |

I cant wait to get those brush grabbers off the front of the gun. Maybe make a model with and one without so we'd both be happy. |
RE: Wish List
1. Bent bolt mausers. 2. Take the old mauser cartridges (6.5swede and 7 in particular) rename them something like 6.5HP and camber guns in them...and then provide ammunition that isn't anemic for fear of older guns. 3. More carbines.
and last but not least.... 4. BRING BACK THE ROTARY LEVER ACTION!!!! |

RE: Wish List
I would like to see Rugers come with better triggers! I don't know if I will buy another one given that I had to drop $150 on a new trigger.
I would also like to see rifles that are assembled on site with varying stock designs and lengths so that you can buy factory guns with custom fit or pretty close to it with minimal cost. Tom |
RE: Wish List
150--wow. They gunsmith around me will do a Mark II trigger for about 50 bucks and thats filing/honing it down to 3lbs. Ive seen new adjustable triggers for about 75$ for the M 77s in alot of places online though.

RE: Wish List
I had a timney trigger put in not an adjustment to the existing trigger.

RE: Wish List
I'd love to see someone offer a 6.5-284 in a 26" barrel rifle.
|
RE: Wish List
i want a 200 grain bullet for my 300 Ultra Mag.
|
RE: Wish List
DK, Federal already loads a 200 grain Nosler partition for the 300 ultra.
Another thing in the gun finish department I'd like to see would be guns with matte black/ blue receivers and matte stainless barrels. Particularly in the heavier barrelled rifles. How about more rifles with some class. Such as ebony, or at least black, forend tips and grip caps, real cut checkering and steel bottom metal. Basically guns that not only function good but look good also. I mean how many more rifles can we stand that are black metal with a black plastic stock???????[&:] Remington is on the right track with the CDL. That gun actually looks good. :) Oh, and this is just a little pet peeve of mine. For all the so called custom gun makers out there. Unless you are making guns from scrach and making it entirely to the customers specifications and measurements you are NOT a custom gun maker. I don't care how well your guns shoot and how good you think they look they are not custom. Semi custom.......... maybe. |
RE: Wish List
Bigbulls they do make good looking rifles they are called Browning A-bolts.;)
I do very much agree Im tired of that black synthetic stock. I have a few laminates which look nice but are a bit heavy to me. Although 1 more wish would be for Boyd Bro's to do a laminate stock for my old 788 Rem. |
RE: Wish List
Sorry Duckbutter but I will have to respectfully disagree about the A-bolts.;)
They have never done anything to float my boat. |
RE: Wish List

How about more rifles with some class. Such as ebony, or at least black, forend tips and grip caps, real cut checkering and steel bottom metal. I like my rifles light, so i also don't mind if they don't put "steel" bottom metal in them either. Personally, i see no reason why they couldn't offer it as an "option" though? Reminds me of a friend who always bragged about his Winchesters, i always countered with my Remingtons. He had just bought a new .338 Win. mag. "bear huntin rifle", (as he called it) and we were side by side at the rifle range. The second time he fired the thing, the forend tip flew off and landed out in front of his bench! Heee he heee, he took a lot of ribbing over that one!! Mine didn't have one, and it's justone less thing to go wrong... Drilling Man |
RE: Wish List
I am with bigbulls, the 270-08 is a splendid idea and should be considered. EJ

RE: Wish List
Mike from texas, NEF offers a 26 inch barrell in 280 as an extra barrell option for thier single shot rifle. It is under 90 bucks if you already have a NEF. EJ
