Winchester .32-40

I have my great grandfathers Win. .32-40 Lever action that he got in trade for drilling a well in 1891. The gun is in perfect shape because he only hunted with it once and it has set in a cabinet since. The original box of shells he got with the gun are still there (half of them). This rigle has the long hex barrel. Is there anybody out there that would have any idea to the guns worth, dollar wise?

Go to gunbroker and look it seems its might be worth around $1000.00

The Octagon Barrel Model might be worth more!

Back in 1955 I had a .32-20 with Oct.Barrel.

32-40 , man that brings back memories. I can’t help you on the value of this rifle but I saw a rifle like you described when I was young.( I’m still young but when I was younger ). It was originally my friends grandfathers and he gave it to my friend. I haven’t seen my friend for years...

I have my grandfathers winchester 1894 in 32-40. Mine has a 26 inch round barrel. I killed my first deer with it in 1962.What model is yours? If your grandfather received it 1891 it can't be a 94.

We have in our family a Win Model 1873 with a nickel octogan barrel. It is values right now between 18-20K$. This rifle has been taken care really well. I assume yours is also.

Go to a reputible antique gun dealer and see if you can get it appraised.

Well, of course, old Winchesters like that bring a good price, and again, of course, condition is the determining factor. As long as the metal and wood finish is pretty much there, and original, (not refinished), and there's no rust on the outside or in the bore, it is worth quite a little.

You should take it to a Winchester expert and have it appraised.
