OK, I'll study the 270 or the 30/06 a little more.

Thanks for your responses.

I'll probably go cheap with synthetic stock, and spend more on a scope.

If you want to go the WSM route, there is certainly nothing wrong with a .270 WSM or a 300 WSM. Ammo selection is slightly limited, but seems to be improving as Federal and Remington now both offer factory loadings in addition to Winchester. And there are a lot of guns offered in both.

I'll probably go cheap with synthetic stock, and spend more on a scope.
Whatever you do, don't skimp on the scope. You get what you pay for. Expect a good scope to run around the $200 mark.

I would say a 7mm Rem mag in a weatherby mark V ultra light weight stainless barrel topped with a Leupold vari x III long range 4.5 * 14.5 30mm tube side focus using 150 grain sciroccos. This will do longe range, short range and most size game. Good luck!

Ithink you are on the right path. You are really asking for quite a bit from one rifle. The .270 or .30-06 is a classic choice. Good thought on spending some money on a good quality scope. Good luck!

I would go 270 or 30-06. Both are kinda heavy for coyotes.

A 7mm Mag for varmits ouch. I hope you get a nice recoil pad. Id say the 280 is prob the best except for the lack of ammo to purchase. The 7mm-08 would be my vote if I could only pick one. You wont be disapointed with a270 or 30-06 though.
