223 ammo question
This is probably a dumb question but I bought a NEF handi rifle for coyotes and a box of Ultramax 55grn. FMJ bullets. My question is that will i have to resight in my gun after I run out of bullets because I cant seem to find Ultramax anywhere close to me. Will it be ok if I just get some other 55grn FMJ and use them after this box is all shot off or will it be completely different?

RE: 223 ammo question
Yes you will need to go to the range to resight your rifle.
The new ammo may or may not impact the same spot as the old ammo. Most likely it won't. |
RE: 223 ammo question
Just don't buy that junk with the half plastic case. That stuff is useless.

RE: 223 ammo question
My Handi Rifle is picky. It'll shoot OK with all ammo, but OK isn't good enough for a varmint gun.
I found that Black Hills 50gr V-MAX was the best it would shoot, so I bought a boat-load of them. |

Well I took it out to the range today and put 5 shells ina halve inch square at 100 yards and last time I checked that would be a fairly decent grouping in my book anyways. |
RE: 223 ammo question
Looks like you found a use for that stuff....LOL .It did not fare well in my AR's or my bolt .223's.Would not even cycle in the bolt.

RE: 223 ammo question
If you're using it for coyotes, I'd probably recommend another bullet, something besides FMJ ammo. Try some Black Hills ammo, in either V-Max or BTHP. Their loads are very consistent and both bullets work very well on coyotes. They are the same bullets I use in my .223 handloads.

RE: 223 ammo question
Always use expanding bullets on live animals, even a lowly coyote deserves a humane ah-de-ose. thats as close as I could spell it anyhow). But as a rule you should allways check your zero any time you change ammo. It's a good idea to find one load of one brand and stick with it, you may even find a shift in point of impact from one box to the next. So don't take nothing for granted, send a few downrange just to make sure!
