RE: Winchester going under

I think in the end, someone will buy them out and build these guns agiain. I think the demand is there . There is a big demand for a few of the WSM and WSSM's that someone could fill. I quess Browning could take over as they are deeply involved anyway.

My gunshop guy said if I wanted another 94 that I should maybe get it soon just in case. I have no interest in the Model 70's however.

Will they stop making ammunition too? Maybe I can finally afford some BSTs if they go on sale now.

I just got off the phone with Browning. The New Haven Ct. plant is closing this year and everything that is manufactured there (70, 94, 1300) is gone forever.

According to the person I talked to Browning has no intention of making these guns in the future, either in Japan or here in the states.

So unless Olin or another company steps up you won't see these guns any more.

If you want any of these gun I suggest that you get them soon.

Olin manufacturer's the winchester brand of ammo. They sold the plant in new haven to US Repeating Arms years ago, along with giving them rights to winchester brand name for the firearms. US Repeating Arms is now owned by Herstal Group,a Belgian company.

So no this does not effect Winchester brand Ammo (Olin).

Good luck guys.... I read on other sites, where people posted up about Win9430-30's and Win 70's are already flying off the shelves at gun stores! [&o] I checked that other site "galleryofguns" or whatever and noticed under "Winchester" the quantity is now "0"!!!

Buy a Win94 or Win70 now while you can! [&:]

At the gun shop where I usually go, the 94's have gone up 100.00 in the last two days. I'll be darned if I would pay extorsion price for a gun from a company that will not be around to back them up. I went there today to buy a 44 Mag Model 94 but when I saw what they had done to the prices, I bought a new Marlin instead. Its a far better gun anyway. I still think someone will pick up the brand or the plant. In the end I guess it doesn't matter much to me as Winchester has really been gone for years anyway.

I wasn't really surprised. They were waaaaaay overpriced, for what you got. AWinchester mod 70 compact with wood stock, and blued barrrel was going for $650. That is ridiculous. That gun should have cost $500 tops.

what's this going to mean for warranties , and parts ???? ( prices and where to get them from)

There are probably lots of parts floating around but I wouldn't bet on any coustomer service or warranty. The law may require the old owners to do some warranty work. I wouldnt count on it though.
