Traditional Woolrich plaid Michigan hunter here(sober). For me.....I like the Win 94 as well as the Savage 99. If you pile up all the deer taken with these rifles, you would have a very, verybig pile on these two dudes. Nothing speaks louder than results. Remember guys, IMO.

RE: Best Rifle Ever Made
Hmmm, best rifle ever made, now that's gonna be subjective. With modern design, rifles, my favorite design is a bolt action. I didn't know which was best, so I just bought one of each of the 'common' bolt action rifles. That way I'd know, right?
Well, the bolt actions are different, but none really stand out above the rest, with the possible exception of Ruger - The Ruger 77 to me just does not have a weakness, like I have found in some of the other brands.
I can't vote for the Mauser, because it doesn't come in a left handed model - so that rules out the Mauser right there.
I'd tend to agree, a custom flavor, should probably be best. But then again most custom guns are built on a 'common' action.
So my favorite is going to leave the bolt category, and be a Drilling. Double rifles are really purrrrrtttttyyyyyy.

There is a reason that more Mausers have been made than all others. When you throw in the deritives such as Swedes, Small Ring Turks, Spanish (and others), all the M48's and their family, Parker Hales, FN's, Montgomery Wards, Sakos, KEW's and on and on....there are probably more of them out there than you would believe....millions. Why???? read the above posts. Paul and his brothers are the "hall of fame" phenoms of the rifle world. Kind of like taking Elway, Starr, Unitas, Montana, Marinoand putting all their stats together. You might as well throw in the 03 Springfield as well caused the Ordnance Corps copied the 7X57 Spanish Mauser for the most part. That's my 2 centavos. Regards, Rick.
