I have a ruger and am very pleased with it but savages are good. My ruger 300win will shoot under an inch at 100 yards. if your looking for looks maybe the ruger but from what i here the savage may out shoot it

I own 5 Rugers and 3 Savages.......the Savages MAY have a slight advantage in accuracy, coupled with the fact that they are ~ $100 cheaper, you cant go wrong with them. Dont get me wrong, I love my Rugers though.

p.s. 3 of my Rugers have had aftermarket triggers installed (~$115) and this has increased their accuracy. The Savages needed a $40 trigger job from my gunsmith. All of my deer guns now have 2.75 # trigger pulls. Keep that in mind.

Myself and a few friends have about 10 M77 MK II ranging from .223 to 300 WSM and all of them will shoot under 1" at 100 yards. Most of them will shoot .5"-.75" at 100 yards when you find the right load for them. The only problem is their trigger. A gunsmith can put in a new one or lighten up the factory trigger. They are great guns for the money.
