winchester bolt

I have a Winchester Model 70 with a push feed action and I was wanting to build a new rifle off of the action. I was wondering if it was possible to change the bolt on it to one of those new controlled feed push feed types or possibly even the original controlled feed bolt. And if it is possible at all how much would it probably cost, etc? Thanks

I am sure that its possible. The Winchester bolts are fitted to each action, so it would have to be checked carefully for fit. I don't know much about the cost, so I'm not sure if it is as practical, as it is possible! It may be better to just find a Winchester action that already has the claw!

I thought about doing the same thing while I was in school, as i too have a push feed M70, but quickly realized that it is not possible. THe classic and push feed bolts and receivers do not interchange with each other.

So the claw is NOT the only difference?

Nope.

You got different extractors, different ejectors, different bolt faces, different bolt lugs, different dimensions overall, etc... etc...
